Ghanaian-American singer Amaarae performed at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival on April 13, marking the first time an artist from Ghana has delivered a solo performance at the major U.S. event, held annually in Indio, California.

Amaarae, whose full name is Ama Serwah Genfi, took the stage during the first weekend of the 2025 festival. Coachella, which features a wide range of musical genres and large-scale art installations, has operated over two consecutive weekends since 2012 due to high demand. The 2025 dates are April 11-13 and April 18-20.

During her set at the Empire Polo Club venue, Amaarae performed her own material and included songs by other Ghanaian musicians, including Eazzy, Joey B, La Même Gang, and the Asakaa Boys.

Addressing the audience, she stated her connection to her heritage, "A lotta the music you just heard is from my home country, Ghana. I love my country so much," she said, according to recordings of the event. At one point during the show, she encouraged attendees to display Ghana flags.
