"Promised Land" song by TobyMac |
Seven-time Grammy-winning Christian artist TobyMac has released his latest single, "Promised Land," offering listeners an introspective look at faith and expectation. The track, co-written with Adam Agee, is now available across digital streaming platforms.
Following his successful single "Help Is On the Way (Maybe Midnight)," "Promised Land" delves into questions of fulfilment and divine blessing. "I think if we’re honest, each of us has wondered, ‘Where is the promised land?’" TobyMac shared in remarks accompanying the release. He reflected on the common query: "'Where’s the blessing for me and my family that I thought would come my way on this earth when I chose to follow the King of Kings?'"
The multi-platinum artist launched the accompanying music video with an exclusive debut on Facebook, dedicating it poignantly to his late grandfather, a miner from West Virginia. The video visually echoes the artist's family history within a mining camp, symbolizing resilience amidst hardship.
For TobyMac, the song ultimately finds resolution not in a physical place, but in a spiritual connection. "The lyrics land where I want my life to land: that the promised land is no land at all, but a relationship with the King who loves us deeply," he explained.
This marks TobyMac's second musical offering this year, building on his established presence in the Christian hip-hop genre. He concludes that the search transforms perspective: "Maybe the promised land we’re looking for is no place at all, but a person named Jesus."
